Frequently Asked Questions
What is a physical therapist?
A physical therapist is a licensed health care professional with expertise in patient evaluation to determine functional limitations, and dysfunctions. Based on the physical therapists findings, an individual’s treatment plan is developed to reduce pain, decrease impairment, and to achieve optimal functional performance.
If I have a prescription from a doctor can I go to any physical therapy facility?
Yes. As a consumer you have the right to choose any physical therapist provider.
Will I have the same physical therapist during each treatment session?
Yes. Our practice is based on providing one –on –one care. Each facility has one physical therapist so you will always have direct interaction and treatment provided by that therapist. We believe this level of care creates the best outcomes for our patients.
What should I expect at my first consultation?
The physical therapist will perform an extensive and thorough evaluation to determine a course of treatment. The evaluation will include subjective information about your condition or problem, symptoms, medical history, and goals for physical therapy. Objective measurements will also be gathered to determine what we will need to focus on during your visits. After gathering this information the physical therapist will discuss with you their finding and will educate you about your problem. Treatment will be implemented the day of your first visit to begin reducing your symptoms and working towards treating the root of your problem.
What kind of treatment will be provided for my condition?
Based on the findings of the evaluation, the physical therapist will determine the proper treatment for each patient’s condition and goals.
What should I wear?
Loose fitting clothing that allows you to move freely and provides access to the involved area is best. Areas are available for changing and gowns are provided if needed.
